The village, originally known as Cottonwood Springs, changed its name when the Blue Diamond Company took ownership of the Gypsum mine and built corporate housing for the workers in the early '20s. Near the base of the Red Rock canyon, Blue Diamond Village was originally a stop on the Old Spanish Trail for traders from Santa Fe, N.M., to California between 1830 and 1848, according to the history committee's findings. road for the The Blue Diamond School opened in 1929. Ries, Aldeane 4/21/2014 Oral History of the Public School Principalship Principal; Education; Clark County School District; Aldeane Ries is a retired high school principal from the Clark County School District in Nevada. Ries received her bachelor degree from the University of Iowa, her masters degree in Northern Arizona University, and also conducted post graduate work at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Ms. Ries started her career as a teacher from 1962 to 1968, then from 1968 to 1979 she held the position Dean of Students. Ries then became assistant principal at Chaparral high school and principals both at Valley high school and Silverado high school. yes 0

Rivera, Lyle & Timbuck 05/01/2009 Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project CT247 .R58 2007 Maryann's father and grandfather arrived in Las Vegas in 1905, and her mother was the eleventh baby born in Las Vegas. Lyle is a lawyer and community activist and worked in the Attorney General's and District Attorney's offices. He also worked as UNLV's vice president for development and university relations, was in charge of development efforts for the law school, formed the UNLV Foundation and served as its executive director, and was assistant general counsel for the university system. Lyle also was the founding president of the International Association of Gaming Attorneys, was instrumental in hiring Jerry Tarkanian as UNLV's basketball coach, and coordinated fund raising efforts for the UNLV International Gaming Institute yes 0
