In this series of workshops, you will learn the fundamentals of preserving your memories, personal collections, and treasures; by utilizing professional techniques developed for public institutions.  This series of workshops focuses on the conservation of books and paper artifacts; while also offering classes in other artistic media and digital technologies.  Laboratory work will provide practical hands-on experience, with basic preservation and conservation techniques.   Your work will also be reinforced with lectures focused on the library and museum sciences, and sound preservation theory.  Students are encouraged to bring personal items to class, to work with.  All persons interested in this field are welcome.  No prior experience is necessary.

All workshops will meet in the UNLV University Libraries’ Special Collections.  The preservation laboratory will be available outside of class to allow students time to finish their projects.  For more information on this series of workshops, e-mail michelle.baker@unlv.edu or call 895-3254.
