In honor of Kenny Guinn and his numerous accomplishments and contributions to UNLV and to the state of Nevada, the President of UNLV and the Office of Advancement dedicated a bronze plaque and portrait of Mr. Guinn, on October 14th, 2011. The bronze relief was crafted by renowned artist Benjamin Victor, and it was placed on the Pioneer Wall at UNLV’s main campus. The dedication ceremony was held in the Grand Hall at Tam Alumni Center. President Smatresk provided remarks, along with Lieutenant Governor Brian Krolicki, UNLV Millennium Scholars: Sarah Saenz and Khalon Richards, Joseph Brown, Jeff and Steve Guinn, and Benjamin Victor (bronze artist).
Working with the Guinn family, UNLV also composed a memorial tribute book about the legacy of Kenny Guinn in Nevada.
Entitled A Life Well Lived: The Legacy of Governor Kenny C. Guinn;copies were available for guests at the Memorial Dedication Event.
The Preservation Program at the University Libraries fashioned six special volumes of this limited edition book, using traditional hand-binding techniques, the finest book cloth, and exclusively designed marbled paper. These special editions were reserved and given to the Guinn family, and one copy was placed in UNLV's Special Collections.
