Simone, Ronald 5/5/2009 All That Jazz ML394.S54 2008 Ronald Simone was born in 1935 in New Haven, Connecticut. He played trumpet in high school and played piano as a profession. He moved to Las Vegas with his friend violinist Joe Mack in 1960. He played in the Riviera showroom for five and a half years, in the exclusive Monte Carlo Room in the Desert Inn where he played for stars such as Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. for five years, and for nineteen years for all the Casino de Paris shows, line numbers, and production numbers at the Dunes. During the musicians' strike in 1989, he did sanctioned sub work at the Lido de Paris show at the Stardust. After the strike was over, Ronald played with Johnny Haig's relief band at various hotels, and he now does public concerts yes 0

Smalley, Rae September 12, 2005 Blue Diamond Oral History Project This is the history of Blue Diamond Village. Blue Diamond is located 26 miles southwest of Las Vegas. The village, originally known as Cottonwood Springs, changed its name when the Blue Diamond Company took ownership of the Gypsum mine and built corporate housing for the workers in the early '20s. Near the base of the Red Rock canyon, Blue Diamond Village was originally a stop on the Old Spanish Trail for traders from Santa Fe, N.M., to California between 1830 and 1848, according to the history committee's findings. road for the The Blue Diamond School opened in 1929.
