Collection is comprised of the working manuscript of Don Ashbaugh's book, Nevada's Turbulent Yesterday: A Study in Ghost Towns. The collection also contains typescript drafts, newspaper clippings and a small amount of correspondence. Ashbaugh, columnist and editor at the Las Vegas Review Journal in the 1950s, wrote a weekly column entitled "Ghost Towns of Nevada" for many years.

A note with this collection indicates that Grace Winkleman Byrne wrote for the Las Vegas Sun, Las Vegas Review Journal, and the Henderson Pages, and that she founded the Henderson Chamber of Commerce.

Collection consists of correspondence, poetry manuscript and musical score. Two letters dated 19 January 1956 and 26 February 1956 from Zoe A. Tilghman, Oklahoma City to Mary Brown Clement, Las Vegas. Correspondence refers to "Pistol Pete" by Eva Gillhouse. "Black and Silver" poetry manuscript draft that was published by Henry Harrison, poetry publisher, in New York, 1944, written by Mary Edna Brown. Musical score and verse "Neshabe" (Dark Water) from Cheyenne Indian melody, words by Zoe A. Tilghman, music arranged by Ruth F. McNaughton, dedicated to Mary B. Clement.

Collection consists of two series related to the life of Las Vegas writer Nan Doughty. The Correspondence series contains letters written by many members of Doughty's family. The Family papers series contains news clippings, school papers, diaries, genealogy records, deeds, stock certificates, manuscript drafts, Desert Research Institute Grant information and notes from UNLV classes. Much of the material in both series pertains to early mining in Nevada and the southwest.

Franklin Sr., George E.

Franklin Sr.'s original typescript manuscripts (with edits) for his two books: The Fallacy of Appeasement (essays on US foreign policy spanning from WW II through Castro and Viet Nam) and From Cotswolds to High Sierras (autobiographyboys life in England, emigrating to the western US in the early 1900s at age 12). He designed the Franklin engine and was a successful businessman in Las Vegas in 1940s-1950s.
