Biography Files

These files contain press clippings and ephemera on the lives of notable Las Vegans and Southern Nevadans and are available in Special Collections. This inventory of the biography files provides a listing of the names and material in each folder. 

Vertical Files

These files contain press clippings, ephemera, and brochures on a variety of topics and individuals pertaining to the gaming industry, Las Vegas, and Southern Nevada. They can be browsed in the Special Collections Reading Room.

Newspapers

The Las Vegas Age was one of the earliest newspapers published in Las Vegas.

The majority of Nevada newspapers in the UNLV Libraries can be found in the Microfilm & Microforms section, however, Special Collections has also assembled a small collection of Nevada newspapers.

  • Special Collections also maintains holdings of UNLV's student newspaper The Rebel Yell from 1954 to the present. These can also be found in the online in The Rebel Yell Digital Collection.
  • Indexes to selected years of the Las Vegas Sun, Las Vegas Review Journal, and other Nevada newspapers can also be found in the Microfilm & Microforms section.
  • Please note that fairly complete microfilm of the Las Vegas Age, Las Vegas Review Journal, and Las Vegas Sun can be found in the Microfilm & Microforms section, which also houses a number of Nevada Newspapers on microfilm that can be searched alphabetically, or by city, title, or county.
  • Current online versions of the Las Vegas Review Journal and Las Vegas Sun are linked through the library's online catalog.
