Print and electronic resources placed on reserve by UNLV Faculty and Instructors can be accessed via UNLV Libraries Course Reserves. To place materials on reserve in the Music Library and/or provide electronic reserves, please fill out the Request for Reserves form (.pdf) and return it to a staff member in the Music Library. The Music Library can place books otherwise shelved in Lied Library on reserve in the Music Library. In order to place a recording on esound reserve (streaming audio for listening assignments), the Music Library must own the compact disc.
Your library-validated RebelCard allows you to check out scores, DVDs, and compact discs at the Music Library. There are no limits on the number of items you can check out. For assistance, ask at the Music Library Service Desk. Loan periods for materials for all Faculty and Instructors are as follows:
- Scores: semester long checkout with two renewals.
- Compact discs: 2 week checkout with no renewals.
- DVDs: 1 week checkout with no renewals.
Checked out materials are subject to recall by students, faculty, and staff. Faculty and Instructors are responsible for Recall, Interlibrary Loan, LINK+ and Reserve Fines. Recall fines are $5.00 per day per item and Interlibrary Loan and LINK+ fines are $1.00 per day per item. Reserve fines vary. There are no other fines. Scores can be renewed online provided there are no outstanding fines above $5.00. Scores can be returned to the Music Library, any of the library locations on campus, or in the book drops located across campus. Please return DVDs and compact discs to the Music Library Service Desk.
Click on Your Account on the top menu of the home page to find a record of the books you have checked out, possible recalls, fines owed, and to renew books.
The Music Library contains over 30,000 scores, nearly 10,000 compact discs, approximately 1,200 DVDs, and a small reference collection. In addition, the Libraries have about 200 electronic indexes and databases that can be used for research purposes and to find journal articles in all subject areas. Many of these resources provide full-text information online. Those most pertinent to music are listed in our Electronic Resources page. You may use your personal laptop system with UNLV's wireless system in the Music Library.
