Music Library Resources and Services

  • Over 29,000 scores, many with performance materials
  • Over 8,000 sound recordings
  • Over 1,200 video recordings
  • Wireless connectivity for laptop use
  • An in-house audio/vidual playback system with CD, DVD, VHS and mini-disc capability including:
    • 12 user carrels with monitors and remote control keypads
    • A group listening room with speakers and a 42" plasma monitor (capacity 3-6 persons)
  • Specialized lists of audio and video recordings in heavily used areas
  • A monthly listing of new books, scores and recordings in music recently added to the collection

For researchers:

*Periodicals are kept in Lied Library; other music serials are shelved in the Music Library stacks under M2-M2.3.

For instructors:

  • Physical course reserves (including items normally shelved at Lied Library) maintained in the Music Library for class use
  • Electronic sound reserves (streaming video reserve capability is under development)
  • Group listening room with A/V capability available for small seminars
  • Classes of up to 20 can be accommodated by the library's A/V playback system for simultaneous viewing in up to 12 carrels
