A
Keyword search is your best choice. Word order for this search is not important, as words are searched individually, rather than as a group.
From the Library Catalog, click on KEYWORDS to begin your search.
At the prompt, enter the title of the song you are looking for. You can limit your search with the drop-down menus in one of three ways.
- By Location (Music Media for recordings, or Music Book Stacks for scores)
- By Collection (Music Library)
- By Type of Material (Scores, CDs, etc.)
The results displayed will give the title, location and call number. If you want to see more information on a particular entry, click on the blue link.
- If you see No entries found after submitting your search, try an Author search, below.
If you would just like to browse the song collections on the shelf, the call number range is M1612-M1630.18.
Try an
Author Search if a
Keywords search has no results. An
Author search lets you look for an author, editor, performer, artist, composer, illustrator or translator.
From the Library Catalog, click on AUTHOR to begin your search.
At the prompt, enter the name of the composer of the song you are looking for in the following format: Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus, then press Enter.
After the search is returned, click on the Limit/Sort Results button located at the top of the page. You will have the following options:
- To see what collections of songs the Music Library owns for a particular composer, change the Words in AUTHOR drop-down menu to Words in TITLE and enter songs, selections in the box to the right of the drop-down menu.
- You can also limit your search here with the drop-down menus in one of three ways.
- By Location (Music Media for recordings, or Music Book Stacks for scores)
- By Collection (Music Library)
- By Type of Material (Scores, CDs, etc.)
The results displayed will give the title, location and call number. If you want to see more information on a particular item, click on the blue link.
- If the list returned is large, you may find it easier to browse the shelves in the appropriate section after getting the basic call number for the composer.
- If the item(s) you need are currently checked out, please don't hesitate to ask at the circulation desk to have a hold/recall put on the item(s) for you.
- If you see No entries found after submitting your search, try the search again using fewer limiting options.
