Preservewell mylar
For all paperback books that need to be collated, not trimmed, or have
the sewing saved. The original cover is laminated with a durable clear film and is used as
the cover material with which they make the hardcover. They extend the paper back cover on
the front and back to allow for the increased size of a Save The Sewing and No Trim text block.
Economy mylar
For all paperback books that do not need special handing.
The text pages must be able to be trimmed a full one eighth of an inch on all 4 sides.
Is not suitable for volumes with foldouts or pockets or heavy volumes with glossy coated paper.
Save the sewing
Recommended for all monographs with artifactual value, single copies, and
volumes with narrow margins.
Sew through the fold
Recommended for volumes with artifactual value, single copies, and volumes
with narrow margins. The volume must have been produced in signatures.
Double fan glue
Recommended for volumes 2" thick or less printed on uncoated paper. Coated paper can be glued successfully if the volume does not contain stiff, overly thick covers or short grained paper.
Oversewing
Recommended for volumes over 2" thick, volumes printed on glossy coated paper, volumes with a gutter margin of at least 5/8" thick, and volumes with stiff or laminated covers.
Wraparound
A wrap-around combines the book with a slip case to house folded maps, charts, music
scores, photographic plates, or other loose items and is usually necessary when the loose
material exceeds the thickness of the volume itself.
