PIN Help

Q: I don't have a PIN, how do I get one?
A:
You can easily set up a PIN online. Leave the PIN field blank and then follow the directions to set up your PIN. If you need help see a Circulation Desk at any University Libraries branch. Choose a PIN you can remember. PINs should be four characters and can include both letters (upper or lower case) or numbers.

Q: I forgot my PIN, what do I do?
A:
From the PIN login: click on the "Forgot your PIN" button. After you type in your barcode and hit submit, you will need to check your e-mail for a message from UNLV Lied Library and follow the link to reset your PIN.

You can also call or come to any of the UNLV Libraries' Circulation Desks to have your PIN reset.

Q: What is a PIN? Why do I need one?
A:
You will need a personal identification number (PIN) to perform self check-out and selected online functions; including renewing books, accessing your patron record, placing holds on materials, and logging on to the Libraries resources from off campus. Activating a self-selected PIN can be done online in seconds and offers the security of privacy protection and reduces risk of identity theft. It’s also protection against someone checking out materials using your card and leaving you responsible for payment.

Q: I know my PIN, so why can't I log on from off campus?
A:
Your computer settings can impact your ability to log on from home or work. Use the Remote Access FAQ for more assistance.

Q: I know my PIN, but I would like to change it. How do I do that?
A:
If you know your PIN you can modify it at any time by logging into Your Account and clicking on the "Modify Your PIN" button, which is on the upper right hand side of the page. If you have problems, you can call the Circulation Desk, 895-2111, for more assistance.

Q: I tried to create my PIN but got the message ‘Sorry, the information you submitted was invalid. Please try again.’ What do I do now?
A:
The most common reason for this error message is that you have already created a PIN. If you do not remember what your PIN was, from the PIN login: click on the "Forgot your PIN" button. After you type in your barcode and hit submit, you will need to check your e-mail for a message from UNLV Lied Library and follow the link to reset your PIN.

You can also call or come to any of the UNLV Libraries' Circulation Desks to have your PIN reset.
