Unrestricted gifts are those that are given to the Libraries for use as determined by the Dean of Libraries. These gifts provide the UNLV Libraries with the flexibility to apply funds where needed most. Previous unrestricted donations have been used to support students, build collections, replace old equipment and furnishings, and develop new programs. The UNLV Libraries accepts unrestricted donations of all amounts.
The UNLV Libraries offers the following options for donors of unrestricted gifts:
The Investors Circle recognizes individuals who contribute less than $1000.
Libraries Investors are recognized on the website and in the Libraries annual donor honor roll; they also receive Libraries information and invitations to special Libraries and university events.

Major unrestricted gifts provide remarkable support to the Libraries and therefore are often recognized publicly by naming a physical space or endowment in Lied or one of the branch libraries. Naming opportunities provide donors the ability to honor a family name, celebrate the life of a loved one, or to extend the legacy of a friend, colleague, or family member.
The UNLV Libraries has multiple naming opportunities available. To date, the presidents board room has been named for J. A. Tiberti and many donors have chosen to name group study rooms.

Restricted/directed gifts allow donors to focus support on a project or program that is especially important to them. In coordination with the dean and the Libraries priorities, donors can choose to fund an initiative that is in need of private support prior to implementation or provide additional support to strengthen an existing program. Restricted gifts can be directed toward a specific branch library, can be used to set up an endowment, or to provide the necessary capital to fund a program in its entirety.
Donors can choose to direct their support toward one of the University Libraries’ three branches: Architecture Studies Library, Curriculum Materials Library, or Music Library.
The following programs are just a few examples of funding opportunities that share strategic significance and importance to faculty, staff, students, and the community.
- Undergraduate Peer Research Coaches Program
- Center for Gaming Research
- Oral History Research Center at UNLV
- Documenting Southern Nevada History
