What should I do if I can't find a book on the shelf where it's supposed to be?

Answer:

In Lied, ask for assistance at Circulation Desk. In branch libraries (ASL, CML, or Music), ask for assistance at service counters.

If the book has been checked out, you may place a hold on it at any Circulation Desk. You will be notified by telephone or e-mail (if we have your current e-mail address) when the book is available. If we can't reach you by telephone or e-mail, we will mail you a notice. We will hold the book for you for seven days from the time we call you or seven days from the time we call, e-mail or mail you the notice.

If a book that is supposed to be on the shelf cannot be located, you may complete a Search Request at the Circulation Desk and an in-house search will be initiated. You will be notified when the book is located, or if the book cannot be found within two weeks.
