Where can I return Interlibrary Loan items?
Materials borrowed via Interlibrary Loan MUST be returned to the Lied circulation desk, or to branch library service desks. DO NOT return ILL books in outside book drops.

How do I place a Interlibrary Loan request?
Request items via your ILLiad account. Either access it directly to complete the request form yourself, or use the "Get Text" button that appears in most of our databases.

There is no charge for Interlibrary Loan for current UNLV faculty, staff, and students.

How long does it take to receive Interlibrary Loan materials?
Every effort is made to obtain requested materials quickly. While some requests can be delivered within 24 hours or a few days, it is best to plan for a one to four week turnaround time.

What do I need to check out an Interlibrary Loan item?
Bring your UNLV ID to the delivery location you have selected (Lied Circulation, Architecture, Music, or Curriculum Libraries). Your Interlibrary Loan book will be checked out to your ILLiad account, so you will not see it on your regular library circulation record.

Are Interlibrary Loan items renewable?
Renewals are determined by the lending library. If renewals are not allowed at all, the paper strap on the item will clearly say NO RENEWALS.
If renewal requests are allowed, simply click on View/Renew Checked Out Items in your ILLiad account to access the item and request a renewal on it. You will receive a temporary extension on your due date, and we will send you an official due date via email after we hear back from the lending library.

Are there fines on overdue Interlibrary Loan items?
There will be a $2 per day overdue fine for all books obtained through ILL. This fine applies to ALL patrons.

Who may use Interlibrary Loan?
Only UNLV faculty, staff, and students may use UNLV Interlibrary Loan. Its primary mission is to assist faculty and graduate students in obtaining materials required for their research. Undergraduates may use ILL for course-related purposes only after locally-available resources have been exhausted.

What is LINK+ and how does it work?
LINK+ is an union catalog of contributed holdings from participating libraries in California and Nevada. Currently enrolled UNLV students, staff and faculty can electronically request a book not available in our library, and have it delivered to you for check out (yes, it's free!) Items may arrive at UNLV in 2-4 business days.

What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and how does it work?
Interlibrary Loan is a network of various libraries and institutions in North America that agree to loan items to one another. If the UNLV libraries do not have a book or periodical that you are seeking, we will ask others on the network to send a copy to us so that we may in turn loan it to you. You must be a currently enrolled UNLV student, staff, or faculty.
