LOCATION AND GENERAL INFORMATION

Microforms are located on the second floor of Lied Library. “Microform” is a generic term for material available on microfilm or microfiche. Microfilm is a roll of film which comes in 16mm and 35mm sizes and is stored in boxes. Microfiche (pronounced micro-feesh) is a flat sheet of film, usually 4 inches by 6 inches. Microfilm is filed in call number order in the white tagged cabinets. Microfiche is filed in call number order in yellow tagged cabinets. The library has over 1 million microforms.

Microforms is a self-service area; however, we have staff available to assist with using the digital microform scanners, locating materials, and answering questions. Prints cost 2 cents if yu're a student and 10 cents if you are a public user. (You must use a copy card or a cash activated RebelCard to pay for prints; no cash payment). The microform scanners are capable of downloading microform images to a floppy disk, zip disk, or CD. Zip disk or CD is recommended, as a floppy disk capacity is approximately 25 scanned pages.
