The Clark County School District specifies the K-12 curriculum as the basis for instruction in all schools under its jurisdiction. The Curriculum Essentials Framework (CEF) for Grades
K-5 and the Course Scope and Goals and Syllabi for Grades 6-12 include the Nevada Content Standards that outline essential student learning standards for each grade level and core course. These documents are used by classroom teachers as the curricular scope for planning and delivering instruction and for monitoring student learning and progress.
In reviewing the K-12 Nevada Standards, the CCSD K-12 Langage Arts and Mathematics curriculum, and the objectives included on the required state and district student assessments, CCSD staff have identified the Power Standards for K-12 Language Arts and Mathematics. The Clark County School District has designated these standards as the most critical standards that students are accountable for mastering and have aligned them with the assessments for each grade; educators may use them to focus and pace instruction, providing a continuum of student learning.
The CEF and the Power Standards are available online through the website of Kit Carson Elementary School. Downloadable PDF files can be found in the lower right corner of the homepage. We also have a direct link to each grade level PDF file, as well as other CEF information below.

In addition, the CML keeps several copies of the CEF and a copy of the Power Standards on reserve at the circulation desk.
The CML has a collection of the CCSD Course Scope and Goals and Syllabi for Grades 6-12 (curriculum guides) available on CD-Rom at the CML circulation desk. CCSD also provides online access to the K-12 Curriculum Overviews both in English and in Spanish.
