Serials Assessment Project 2008-09
How to Participate in the Serials Assessment
For the project, the Libraries is assessing databases and journals and we encourage you to participate by providing feedback for both types of resources.
Databases
The complete list and college list of databases under review are available to you as Excel files. For each title, we have provided the following data for the last three years:
- Number of searches
- Cost
- Inflation (average 10% each year, or 30% for three years)
- Cost per search, if applicable
- Cost per full-text view, if applicable
- Year when library subscribed to the database
- Notes
- Overlap (if applicable)
By downloading the Excel files, you can print them off for review or you may review them on your computer. For each database you would like to comment on, please send the title and the rationale for keeping the resource to your liaison librarian by October 24, 2008.
The list of liaison librarians can be found at http://www.library.unlv.edu/about/biblio.html.
Journals
The complete list and college lists of journals under review are available to you as Excel files. For each title, we have provided its three year average cost, three year average cost-per-use, and availability in other formats. By downloading the Excel files, you may print them off for review, or you may review them on your computer. For each title you wish to comment on, we ask that you assign one of three rankings in the column labeled "Your Ranking" column:
E-Essential
U-Useful
M-Minimally Useful-Document Delivery Is Sufficient
When you have completed ranking titles in the files you reviewed, please email the file as an attachment (librarycdm@unlv.edu) or return a print copy of the title lists to:
