If you have library books that go missing, be sure to touch base with the ASL staff. If they know you are trying to resolve the situation, it can prevent additional problems and headaches (such as being sent to a collection agency).

Eat Healthy & take short naps. When frustrated go for a walk or go to UNLV gym.

Get here early for parking

Find an upper division student to be your mentor. Us old timers, have been around the block a time or two in this place and know how to survive Dr. White's classes.

Get to know the UNLV School of Architecture and the people in it. You will be spending a lot of time here and you may just need someone's help one night when no one else is around.

2-ply chipboard is great, 4-ply will break about 50 X-acto blades

Basswood rules, balsa wood sucks.

"Work smart, not hard."

Work in studio (not at home): your classmates are great for advice, crits, inspiration, and supplies.

Your best friends are those who can be brutally honest about your work.

Get to know the professors in the UNLV School of Architecture

Make sure you have a parking pass.

Take plenty of breaks; how much time can you lose in 15 minutes anyway?

Remember, asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.

Supplies are most accessible at the UNLV Bookstore.

Put your name on all your supplies--they tend to walk away. Secure ALL your library books!

When it comes to technology (computers, printers, scanners), if it can go wrong it will, so expect the unexpected.

See your advisor often and stay on track with your classes.

Your assignment may seem irrelevant now, but stick with them because eventually you will realize that it is from these early projects that you learn the most.
