The Library Catalog: Search StrategiesThe most effective way to search for a particular architect is by the architect's name. You can search using the library catalog's quick search (limited to the Architecture Studies Library (ASL)) keyword index (or use the dropdown box to select title, author, subject or call number option). The advanced ASL search screen allows you to refine your search by entering several search keys. Advanced searching also lets you limit by location, year and other libraries.
Example: Meier Richard If you do not find the architect listed after searching keyword, author or subject indexes, search the computer for items covering the country of the architect using the subject index. Example: Architecture Mexico Some architects can be found by searching for relevant architectural periods or styles using the subject and/or keyword index. Example: Architecture 19th Century Other possible subject headings include:
For additional subject headings, consult the Library of Congress Subject Headings or ask a Reference Librarian.
