When and Why to Cite Sources

Purpose: This online workshop explains some of the major ethical issues related to the creation and use of information. It covers plagiarism and a discussion of copyright laws.

Objectives: When you have successfully completed this module, you will be able to:

• Give at least three reasons why citing sources is important in research.
• Define plagiarism and avoid it in your research.
• Define and explain copyright, intellectual property, and fair use.
