Video Cover information:
Shashi Caan is the Chair of Interior Design at the
Parsons School of Design in New York and principal of Shashi Caan
Collective. In this lecture she questions and re-evaluates our concepts
of design and architecture and investigates the appropriateness of
current design methodology. Shashi claims there is no more avant garde
and that design has become entranced by Hollywood/Bollywood, and she
seeks answers for the future by critiquing the designs of today. She
discusses issues such as form making and the result of too much intellectual
design, why today's architecture does not provoke delight at discovery,
design vocabulary versus communication (and what we truly mean), designing
for humans, color-generated design, and technology in real life
