UNLV School of Architecture welcomed lecturer
Brad Cloepfil Checkout his lecture on DVD or VHS: Brad Cloepfil, principal at Allied Works Architecture in Portland, Oregon, lectures on site-generated architecture and the lessons of unintentional (found) architecture. Focused on "incidental gestures" of architecture, Brad examines how the "making of space begins with structure" and how the "landscape" of any space lends iteslf to many interpretations that composition alone cannot plan for. The time of day, the time of year, the pre-existing scale and hierarchy of the original site all help define the "landscape" of any architecture Brad received his Bachelors degree in architecture from the University of Oregon and went on to earn his Masters of Architecture at Columbia University. After his studies, he worked in New York, Los Angeles and Switzerland for ten years before establishing Allied Works Architecture in Portland, Oregon in 1994. Since its inception, Allied Works has been awarded commissions throughout the United States and has received continued critical recognition for its work. Brad is frequently invited to lecture, participate in symposia, and serve on competition juries.. He has also held numerous academic positions. Brad
Cloepfil is founder and chief-architect of Allied Works. Since his
audience consists primarily of architectural critics, museum curators
and academia, he has a unique website that speaks to them as well as
potential clients and employees.
