|Building Materials:||While this project is an interior remodel, the new materials included LED light fixtures; water cut steel and precast materials made from renewable materials.|
|Description:||The design approach was to create an active, energetic lounge that replaced an old, quiet lobby bar.
The I-Bar at the Rio is an energetic lounge that is located directly in front of the main entrance and registration, as well as sitting in the heart of the main casino. Using this location to create a vibrant lounge that can function as a quiet bar in the afternoons, but change into the center of attention as a loud, action bar in the evenings was a challenge. The 360degree bar has at its focal point a dramatic fiber optic sculpture - light fixture that is created with over 200 Y2 inch fibers that have oil dripping down them. The fibers change colors, synchronized with the music system. The lights in the lobby, and Porte cochere are all suspended dish fixtures that use LED lights to uptight the flattened domes above these dish light fixtures. These light fixtures are also connected to the sound system of the I-Bar, so the music and light experience for the I-Bar starts when a guest arrives at the Porte Cochere, and continues as the guest stops at the registration and the I-Bar. The lounge also incorporates intimate platforms where the Rio "bevertainers" can perform during impromptu entertainment, as well as multiple flat screen N's through out the lounge.
