Sustainable Description
Narrative/Project Description:
Faciliteq, one home to Sedano Auto repair was an integral part of downtown Las Vegas. Having surpassed its services, the building was vacated and sat empty before being purchased by a sustainable conscious owner. The owners’ vision was to renovate the existing auto shop into office and warehouse space. The main design approach was to maintain the original character of the building structurally and aesthetically. This was accomplished by maintaining punched openings in the exterior walls and implementing an under floor HVAC system to keep the bowstring trusses free of all systems. Approximately 10,650 sq. ft. loft apartment were renovated. Natural daylight was introduced to the space by large sectional glass doors as well as skylights. Additional roof insulation was added along with recycled carpets, fabrics, and equipment. There was no additional parking added on-site to encourage use of the bordering mass transit route. The 75 lineal feet of exterior façade & sidewalks on Main Street & First Street were designed to provide pedestrian friendly streetscape. The project is located at 817 S. Main Street in Las Vegas, NV.
