Design Approach/Narrative: Over the past 50 years, various changes in America 's traditional household structure have resulted in several new and emerging household types. America 's major dwelling type, the single-family detached house, has not responded to these changes, which has led to a misfit between the house and household of today. Consequently, America 's newer and evolving household types become a driving need for more adaptable and life-cycle responsive dwellings. The goal of the project is to create a dwelling type that invites, encourages, and facilitates the ability of the household to customize its living environment, through adaptive and changeable design; thus providing an outlet for the household to tailor its living environment to reflect the particular composition of the inhabitant(s) at any given point in time.
